Italy's Magic
57Family Holiday
Our trip to Italy in the summer of 2008 was magic. It took one year of planning and plenty of online research but it was spectacular and memorable for all of us.
My sister in law and I decided to take a family trip together. Daily we searched the Internet and made endless phone calls to various agencies for different information. This trip was for a total of twenty-three days. We finally agreed to take a ten day tour with Insights Vacation.
Our first half of the trip we toured the Northern part of Italy and terminated our tour in Capri. Some of my favorite places to visit were the Amalfi Coast and Capri. The mountainous regions were breathtaking. The people were warm and friendly. The month of June was very hot but our luxury airconditioned bus made it very comfortable when we moved from place to place.
Rome with all its history and Venice with all its romantic ambiance made this trip unforgettable. We also visited the Abbey of Montecassino which I thought was the wonder of the world. This church was more beautiful than the Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome. The interior architecture and gold monuments were beautiful and out of this world.
We also enjoyed the fine local cuisine from region to region. From pizza to pasta, everything was mouth watering and delicious. We also bought plenty of water during our fifteen day touring. If ever you choose to take a European holiday make sure you have plenty of water with you to avoid dehydration. Our tour guide spoke English and was very informative.
We flew Montreal Rome with Air transat and began our tour from Rome. Once we finished our tour we rented a car and drove to my husband's native home town in Calabria, south of Italy. Their we spend fifteen days on the beach and socialized with our relatives. Visiting the small village was very emotional for my husband who had not been there since forty years. It had changed and was no longer the way he left it. Now, it was more a tourist attraction place with numerous hotels built on the beach.
My son who was fifteen at the time will remember this holiday for years to come.
If any of you are thinking of traveling in the near future I highly recommend Insight's Vacation as you tour specialist. In addition you can also research http://www.vision2000quebec.com/ if you are traveling from Montreal or Ontario. They have great airfare specials and family packages.
I hope you find this article interesting and informative at the same time. Bye for now!!
